After 1 month and 8 days my index finger is still in pain?!

Question: On February 3, 2008 my cousin bent my index finger. I told some people and they said he might have dislocated it but if he did it would have hurt a lot at the moment right? It did not. The next day it was swollen and hurt i could not bend it. I didn't think it was serious but till this day it hurts from lets say 1 to 10 about a 7 but is not swollen. He grabbed my finger and bent it somehow. I did not see how. What could he have messed up?
