boiling water i'd say, it can scar! but so can the other to an extent! lol

Do not put cream on it. Run under water.
Don't pop the blister, just keep it cool.
Steam damages physically the fastest and you may pay a doctor bill but Parental scolding can lead to a therapist bill which is much much more costlier.

Steam - It's only as bad as the air we breath.
Boiling Water - Put your hand in some and take the test yourself.
All three can be as painful but at least you can pour cold water over the first two...but parents well that would be even more painful in the end. Lol
Cure...take more care in future with all three.
Scold and Scald both different but both can be a painful experience.

steam is about 1000degrees farenheit so you need to cool your hand down
