My wife pulled my skin back and some gooey liquid has squirted out, what I shoul!

Question: Hi, as you may have read in my previous question I have had a rather unfortunate injury to my finger, I decided not to go to the hospital so I asked my wife to hold the skin back for me so that I could apply the plaster, anyway as she held it I noticed a slightly green translucent liquid leaking from the end of my finger, does this mean it has gone septic already?

its definatly infected put heaps of anticeptic stuff on it and if it doesnt heal up you might need to see a doc

WHY ARE YOU ASKING THIS AGAIN ??????????
GO TO THE HOSPITAL !!!!!

Erm.. doesn't sound very happy, pop along to your GP!

pop down to nhs direct for professional advise

green means it's and infection go to a doctor

Get her to slurp it up - and have a cup of tea, ciggie - and 2 Anadin Extra..then go and have a wee snooze on the couch.

yes sounds like it get down your doctors now,!

Put a bread poultice on it as hot as you can stand

That doesn't sound too healthy so you should take it to the doctors.

How did you injure your finger in the first place, if it has some foreign matter in it and you have not had a tetanus recently I would get it check out urgently and not ask people on yahoo for advice !
Otherwise you may end up with only 1 hand, not just 1 hand 3 fingers and a thumb

its only a cut on the finger...leave it be...

If its clear its the plasma healing it, but you shouldn't pull skin back at all...if you can do that, its a hospital job...if your unsure and don't want to waste your time, go to your nearest pharmacy and ask the pharmacist to have a look at it, they will be able to tell you if it's infected, and if they can give you something for it, or if it NEEDS to be seen by the doctor.

if its swollen and has green gunge oozing from it, then it sounds infected. Don't touch it anymore other than to clean it...because you can spread it.

Good luck.

I'd make an appointment with your doctor to get it checked out if you don't want to go to the hospital. At least then he/she can tell you if you have anything to worry about.
Or you could just go to an NHS Direct walk in centre.

You do need to go to a doctor. Use some Neosporin on it = that may pull that infection out of it.

It's infected. Get to the docs.

It sounds like an infection. Go to the doctors and they might give you some antibiotics. If you leave it, it could get worse.

sounds like you have gangeren.. nothing to mess with. you could lose your life over this. good chance you'll lose your finger. go to the doc at once. he may have to take it off to save your life..you must have a good ins. policy your wife what does she think.... no doc..

If you don't get it treated, you might not be able to give thumbs up anymore! You aren't going to die, but puss is your bodys way of saying you are infected. First of all, squirt out as much as you can, then clean it, dress it. Then go to the nurse at your doctors-don't bother going to the hospital. I am sure you will live even if you don't go, but if you are that worried go-that is what taxes are for.
If it was septic, it would be yellow and green, and even if it was, a nurse will wash it, put a cream on it (Colodine?) and dress it.
Don't worry soldier-you'll live!

Put some hydrogen peroxide on it. It may bubble and it might even sting a bit, but it will kill the infection. After that just put a bandage on it.

green colour may be due to some ferrous foreign body contact and nothing to worry. apply after shave lotion and see that injury is forgotten
