Apparantly I have Osgood Schalatters?? Help Please :D?!

Question: Apparently I have Osgood-Schlatter it's a disease and is a common overuse injury of the knee for preteens and teenagers. I got it from doing track :(. My left knee (lower right side) is swelling and hurting whenever I run. (Doesn't hurt when I stand or sit). What can I do beside icing, and taking Motrin (which I do)? Can I still do the track drills today? (The coach makes me) :( I can kinda slack off a bit during the drills if I want

You usually get rid of Osgood Schlatters when you're done growing. However, that might be a long time, so it's a very frustrating injury which is difficult to treat. For most people it heals even if you run, but pain may make the injury worse. Some people have good effects of taking some months free for activities that causes pain, a friend of mine was 4 month away and got rid of it. Surgery is usually not performed on that kind of injury, but sometimes its necessary if there is still pain when you're done growing. Some people also gets better by wearing a cast for some weeks. In most cases you get rid of Osgood Schlatters disease before your growth is finished, but it varies from person to person.
