Back Pain: Is it just sore or pulled??!

Question: My back in many spots is what i may considered soar upper, middle and lower. I know that a pulled back muscle is considered a life long issue. But how bad is the pain if you actually pulled a back muscle compared to just a knotted or soar one.

Hi Shane

A pulled muscle or a knotted muscle are actually the same. It is just that one has been there longer.

The knots in the muscle are areas of trauma either from injury or from protecting other muscles or joints not working correctly.

The minor knotted muscles occur in the early stages as joints and muscles tire. Then when you have longer or more severe pain, it just means the underlying problems have become worse.

A pulled muscle is not a life-long issue - unless you do nothing about it. Back pain whether it is joint or muscle related is easy to correct and easy to prevent. There are many things you can do at home especially when the problems are minor, that can eliminate it quickly.

But do not leave it too long or you will end up like so many others that eventually need medication or surgery because of the chronic pain they suffer.

Back pain can be helped by doing techniques at home and also seeing practitioners. Learning techniques your self will save you time and money seeing someone and will also aid their treatment if you decide to seek help. But please do something now rather than leaving it too long or too late.

My fiance has pulled a muscle in his lower back once, and he said it was pretty painful. What have you done to get a sore back or a pulled muscle? Maybe you should see a chiropractor

YP is right
but a good rule of thumb is that a knotted muscle usually has trigger points ( little knots that make pain shoot to another area of the back or body) Then again, trigger points can also be a sign of a muscle guarding another weaker or injured muscle.

Give it some time. If it goes away in a week or so, it is not really serious. If it does not, you should go to a Physical Therapist to get some exercises and treatment. Their job in the world is to diagnose and treat the musculoskeletal system.

Ignoring the problem may seem to make it better, until you get a disk herniation or a degeneration of a vertebra.

it its a pulled muscle it burns...if its sore..it happens all the time...if you have pulled it you should be able to figure this out what were you doing and did it start hurting right away...put some heat on it
