Healthcare professionals, how do you feel about nationalized healthcare?!
Question: Just what we need- politicians playing doctor. Seriously, have you even known the government to run any program efficiently and inexpensively? Nationalized health care sounds really good until the taxpayers find out what it will cost and what they will get for that money. Then when they discover waiting lists for what used to be minor things like hernia repairs can mean a year or more of waiting- they will really scream. I'm not sure what the best solution is, but having the government oversee things isn't my idea of one.

medicare/medicaid accounted for 700 billion of last year's 2.8 trillion budget (and most states match medicaid 50% or more and many have extra programs so really total spending on government healthcare is probably close or over 1 trillion when you factor in extra state specific programs and contributions). Anyway, about 40-45 million americans (or about 20% of our population- and people want the gov to pay for the other 80% of americans too??? ) are on goverment funded healthcare. that comes out to about $20,000-25,000 tax dollars per head. granted many people are elderly or disabled so their costs are higher, but still $100k for a family of 4 seems a bit inefficient and wasteful to me
