Swelling From?!

Question: I have pain my arm as if I pulled muscles , but I also noticed that my arm is swollen.. and I've had plenty pulled muscles and I've never had swelling, so is this normal? And I'm guessing that if it is, I should treat it like I normally would treat swelling?

Swelling is common to any kind of trauma and a pulled muscle is a trauma. When we injure ourselves specialist cells are sent to the area and this is what cause the swelling and inflammation, it's a natural normal response. Yes treat it using the RICE acronym, Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. Ibuprofen, an anti-inflammatory should help too.
