Muscle soreness?!


Question: so we started soccer practice on monday.

and i'm the most sore i've ever been in my high school sport "career".

what should i do for the pain/swelling in my calves, shin splints, and ankle soreness?

and what can i do over spring break to stay in shape?

sorry, i know it's alot to ask, but anything would be appreciated.

how long since you exercised?Has your diet changed since last year?This can have a lot to do with muscle fatigue as the muscles need protein and minerals to function correctly as well as oxygen.Have you gained weight?This would put greater strain on bones and muscle.Also you aint gettin any younger :>)No seriously if you use mineral ice in a jar it may help but be careful it can burn skin due to its active ingredient.Off season do leg exercises ,squats,and especially speed walking.Walking is great exercise and a lot better for your joints than the constant pounding of running.Soccer is a running sport so run a little(a mile)then walk a fast 4-5 miles with some freinds .Lastly if the pain remains see a doctor if you think its very unusual.
