I work in a Dr's office and we do this quite often...after the first numbing shot, which I am told is the worst part...then you should not feel any pain during the procedure. I have been told by many patients that they were in so much pain before the procedure that any pain they might of felt afterward was minimal compared to before.

Good luck

Yup. It's not excruciating pain, but it does hurt. Any surgery is gonna cause pain.

I had the same thing when I was 19yo (really) on both my big toes. They used a needle to numb the toe and then cut it out (not the whole toe), I only felt pressure, no pain. The two needle sticks hurt more than the removal did.

If you do get anestetics it won't.I had the same problem as you but since I hate doctors I took a smal scissor and started to dig in . I did feel pain but nothing unsuportable.
If I did it alone and I managed with the pain you should be much relifed because doctors are much gentler.

had this surgery done twice now and am going to have it again shortly because of the re-occurrence. yeah the procedure does hurt if your just getting the toe numbed but because of your age they may do what they did with me put you under and operate on them while you are asleep. this is an option that you can ask your doctor if it is possible for you to get it done this way. if your ingrown toe nail is only a minor one it will hurt for a little while after and the toe will feel really hot and will throb but that's the pain that you have to take from a procedure like this. good luck with your surgery keep me informed on your progress
