Shin splints?!?!


Question: i have them really really bad and i need a cure.

im a full time cheerleader so i work out at least 3 hours a day 6 days a week and my shin splints hurt so bad everyday.
is there anyway to make them feel better without taking time off of cheerleading cause i really cant, its not an option.

pleaseeee, they hurt so bad i need some advice.

Ouch. Just your mentioning them makes me remember shin splints from track, and that was twenty years ago!

Shin splints hurt because you're strengthening the muscles in your calves, which pulls the muscles away from the front of the bone (or I might have it backwards). Either way, it's pain caused by your getting stronger, and will just take time to go away.

Keep stretching. Try a little Ben-Gay. And keep cheering!

Ice them after physical activity. And purchase some shin splint braces. U can get them from a local sporting goods place or maybe even try eastbay. They hold the surrounding muscles, flesh in place so that it doesn't move which causes the discomfort. But nothing beats actually resting and waiting for them to heal. Good luck.
