I am so sorry to hear of your intense pain in your knees! Arthritis is something that can strike at young ages, believe it or not. Is it worse in the wet or cold weather and better during dry and warm times? If so, probably arthritis. I would go to the family doctor for this because there are very serious things that could be afflicting you - i.e. bone cancer. Not to scare you or anything but that could be something that would cause such intense pain and it has been overlooked as growing pains in children. Try some glucosamine for your pain and see if that helps. Also, get enough rest! Take care of yourself!

have you tried knee pads?

(Ignore the girl icon, im on my gfs account)

I'm 18 too and I have had this exact problem for the longest time. I mainly destroyed my knees being a catcher for my baseball team for 1 season, and my knees have been shot since. I tried taking Osteo-Biflex pills and other stuff like that to help, but it didnt do much for me.

My knees feel great now though! and I have an idea that will help you. Go down to a local CVS or store like that and buy a pair of Foot insoles to put inside which ever pair of shoes you wear most. This helps take pressure off of your key joints.

I had your exact symptoms, constant pain in the knees, cracking and popping when walking upsteps and stuff but ever since i started wearing the insoles ive been fine.
Also, you said you dont play sports, try to excercise your legs. Thats what the doctor told me to do as well.

If you feel rain before it comes (like the day before or on the day before a rain), like if your knees start like hurting (not necessarily stabbing paints, but just annoying hurts that just keep hurting for no apparent reason), you might suspect arthritis. I had arthritis since I was 2, and I am now 19. It got much better as I went into track in 10th grade and kept running. It hurt me at first but as long I kept off hills (because they put stress on your knees) I was alright.

Don't walk up stairs because stairs are really bad for your knees. Old people are discouraged from using stairs.

If it's arthritis, icy hot really doesn't work at all. I've tried. Just try taking a bit of advil, but that may not help that much either. I think what may help is electro muscle stim. I bought a machine because I had to be treated since I was little. It's just a little machine that has pads, and you put the pads on the afficted area, and the machine sends pulses of electricity into that area, and this facilitates regrowth or healing of muscles and joint connectors.

Also, I think they have something now with ultrasonic pulses, but this you probably have to go to a therapist and have to pay a lot for.

Don't do heavy workouts. If it hurts during a workout, STOP.

HAve your mom make an appt soon with a Dr for an evaluation, sounds like you have arthritis and although it's not curable it can be treated.
