I'm terrified of needles!?!

Question: I'm not sure when, but sometimes in the next few weeks I have to get a vaccination. I was okay with it at first, but then I found out we have to get FOUR done on the same day, two in one arm and two in the other. Theres no way out of it since my parents want me to get it and i already handed in the form.

Help!

I'm not a big fan of needles either (in fact, just thinking about them now is giving me a funny feeling in my tummy), but I use the distraction technique.
For example:
"Ooo, that guy outside is cute. I wonder if he's single..." OR
"I wonder how many responses I got to my question on Yahoo! Answers?", OR
"I'll reward myself for getting these jabs today, I'll go get an ice cream. I wonder which flavour I should get..." OR
"Hmm, maybe I can send my boyfriend an SMS while I'm getting the injections..." OR
"I'll tell my boyfriend how bad it was and maybe he'll get me some flowers..."

Hehe... just kidding. Don't worry! They'll be over and done very quickly so don't stress too much! (And wait till you experience labour pains!!! Now THAT is pain!)

...I wouldnt get them in the first place, but its all in your head they dont hurt as much as you think they do.

U just think of how fast it will be done, look the other way, talk about something or think of something funny while it's done, and you'll be done in no time at all, and walk away feeling good you were so brave....really, it won't be painful...just a mosquito bite feeling. You can do it!

jaby jaby
also i use to have that fear but then i watched the needle as it went into me and then i got over the fear. also even worse i had to watch them stick a needle into the vein in my arm and suck out alot of blood and i hated it but it also decreased my fear of the smaller needles.

I used to feel the same like you...But was put on a certain treatment where I have to take 2 shots daily and the worse part was that one of them I had to give it to myself( under the skin)
It took me a while to get rid of this phobia, I used to take a deep breath and say to myself it's just a little pinch and that's it, I used to look at the other side and think of something else and it worked I'm not scared of them any more...

Only you can heal yourself and get the fear out of you when you need to....Good luck

My best friend was terrified of needles and I held her hand while she was getting them... We also talked about clothes,, It really helps!! good luck

The 1/2 second of discomfort is better than the days/ months fever when you get the sickness. Be terrified of getting the disease!!
Read up on each disease when you realize what they are preventing and how you can avoid all that with a couple of tiny pinpicks to the arm you won't feel so scared.

Breath in deep and let it out slow. Repeat as needed while getting the shot.
Don't watch.
I have to give myself 2 shots a day so it is hard to feel sorry for you but, I need to get over it.
Try thinking about something else also.
The last flu shot I had I didn't even feel it. Maybe you will get lucky.
