How do I know if this is a heart problem?!

Question: I have already gone into the ER and doctors have taken X-rays of my chest. They say my ECG,EKG comes back normal, so does the X-ray, and that the upper left side chest pain I am experiencing, can only be a muscle spasm or heartburn, GERD. Man, I don't know, man, but this is really getting bad. I am having this pain, discomfort everyday now. I can breathe and all, but what in hell is it? Does anyone else get these sort of stabbing, poking sensations on the upper left side of your chest? It also hits me when I am under a lot of stress. Anyone, please. When I lay down, it goes away. When I am not thinking about it, it seems to go away. What is this?
