Is it a bad bruise or a possible fracture?!

Question: I was playing indoor soccer about a month ago and way kicked (direct toe punch) rather hard on the inside of my leg right above the ankle bone. It immediately swelled up and even the sheets on my bed hurt to touch it that night. The swelling went down and there was brusing (I don't bruise easily at all). I never had a hard time walking, although it has bothered me every day. There is still a lump where I got kicked and it's still rather sore to the touch. Sometimes I even get a tingling or numbness to that area. I have a doctor appointment next week but I don't want to waste my time if it's just a bad bruise. My only concern is that it still hurts a month later.

It sounds like you may have a fracture, based on what you said about pain when going over the bike bridge.

To diagnose a fracture without an x-ray, the doc may take a tuning fork (very very fine vibrations) and bring it close to your source of pain. If it is fractured, it will hurt a lot when the vibrating tuning fork is near the injury, because the two pieces of the bone are vibrating on each other.

Good luck though, hope that helps.

i suggest you go to the public hospital to get an orthopaedic doc to check it out.Maybe it could have a small fracture or a damaged nerve... best to get it checked out!! :-)

Yes you should go to the doctor because it should not be hurting you after all this time. See a doctor because their may be some internal problem. Good Luck!!
