Broke nose years ago, now i want to sue?!

Question: when i was in the 9th grade, over 7 years ago a person who is two years older than me punched me in my nose without me even doing anything to him, so it wasn't self defense on his part. Anyway after i was punched, yet when the doctors saw it they said nothing was wrong, yet my nose never looked the same. Three years after the incident, my nose looks really weird and now i feel very angry that i want to sue this guy for what he did. As bad as it looks i haven't got surgery and i don't want to have surgery in the future, i just want justice. I also know where that person lives. It's really bothered me because my parents allowed the guy to worry about by telling the cops that he the guy who punched will no to have to worry about paying for the injury. What do you think i should do? i wanted to know if i could still sue him. I need justice because I'm always depressed because of this issue.I look totally different because of my nose and i didn't get justice.

I am sorry to hear that, I am surprised that the school did not do anything. The best thing you can do now, is to make sure it does not happen again, maybe take up some martial arts, so you can defend yourself, as you will know when something like that is going to happen, as you become more aware. You must try to forgive this young man as he only acted the way he has been treated, it is hard to let things go sometimes, but this for some reason is a life lesson for you and it seems that you passed with flying colors, even though from time to time you might think of it, especially when it happened you were a young man in the 9th grade, the school system should have handled it, but for some reason, they put their heads in the sand and seem to turn the other cheek. You are an adult now, its hard to let things go sometimes, but we get better with age, I would still like to suggest you take up martial arts, as this will teach discipline, and self restrain, but to use your skills when needed.

Too late. Statutes of limitations have run out.

Sorry but I doubt you could sue now. Most companies only go back 3 to 5 years and you would have had to report it to the police.
Don't think you'll have much luck with a case here.

too late

I doubt you'd win after so long..

Punch him in the face.

your too late

I would doubt you could sue. However, seems there are underlying issues here. I think if it bothers you that much you should really think about the cosmetic surgery. I had it done and it wasn't bad...just expensive.

Call a lawyer.

You are not looking for justice, you are looking for money to get a nose job. You have run out of time. Two years is the limit on assaults, besides, he was a minor like you at the time. It was a childhood incident, let it go. If you want to have surgery to repair your nose, see your family doctor. If the doctor examines you and finds that the break has caused breathing problems, etc. then he/ she may be able to advise you about reconstructive surgery to correct the problem. This has nothing to do with justice, and your anger suggests there is something more going on than the need for a nose job, calm down and think before you hurt someone.

I felt very sad for you while reading your question. It's obviously been difficult for you. Has the guy ever apologized or acknowledged your feeling at all? He's an absolute pig for harming you like that. I'm sorry but I believe the statute of limitations is usually 7 years. You could consult an attorney to see what, if anything can be done. What goes around, comes around. I believe in karma and I'm sure you will live to see this guy pay for being a bully.

Was that 7 years ago or 3 years ago. If 7 years ago, you are probably about 21 now, right? Well, when you turned 18 and became a legal adult, you got the right to sue, and the Statute of Limitations began ticking. So you need to find out what that is in your state. It differs from state to state, and from one type of wrongdoing to another. You add that statute period (1 yr,. 2 yr., 3 yr., whatever) to your 18th birthday, and if that has gone by, it is too late.

You probably wouldn't have got much anyway, as most people would just look on this as a "kid thing."

too late statue of limitations is up
