Should we allow a person who has fainted due to an emotional shock to continue s!

Question: That is an extremely 'wide_open' question! This type situation depends greatly upon extenuating factors; such as age, health history, pre-disposing factors, cause of fainting, any injury resulting from faint (as in hitting the head(?)...all of which are extremely important in determining what type of follow-up care is appropriate. Whatever you do, PLEASE keep constant check on the individual, if they are difficult to waken definitely seek further medical intervention...Please be certain that person did not 'hit their head' when experiencing a 'fainting spell'... If fainting was caused by something other than 'stress' as you point out is very important, something one should seek further intervention. Be sure individual did not suffer any type of seizure during fainting spell OR was seizre the cause? These are all very important avenues to define... Was the fainting caused by 'low_blood' sugar? I could list a few dozen more but most importantly you need to keep close watch upon any individual who faints... Obtaining reliable medical advice out here in Yahoo answers is NOT to be the definitive answer when one is deciding medical choices...so please be cautious in relying upon such. You may also visit www.WebMd.com for further information on medical situations...great easy to understand source as well as an avenue toward finding medical assistance etc...Hope all turns out well...take care~

This is a psychological desision. If it was do to extreme grief, then leave them there, and then some. If it was due to extreme happiness, then give them some time, and then wake them up. It it was due to extreme anger, frustration, (not that common) then wait, then stand back, since they'll feel like killing something when they first wake up.

I like the first answer, but I say while they're out draw extreme eyebrows, wiskers and color their nose with sharpie markers.

I wouldn't. If they really fainted, then they may in danger of hurting themselves. Make sure the airway is open. They should wake up shortly. If they don't, something else is wrong.

Of course, if there was an extreme shock, and they need to lay down, that is ok.

hi, i fainted once due to the grief of having my cat put to sleep, my friends just put me to bed and let me sleep, just kept a close eye on me.
i didnt have any other health problems that they had to worry about tho!
