Try a podiatrist to check out the feet. I tried orthotics and foudn the pain to be too much. So I have made do with widewidth shzoes. Others do benefit from special shoes.

I always got along with adidas for flat feet.

Try sneakers with good arch support...asic's
My MD made me orthotics for foot..then I have to get shoes either longer or wider.
