My knees kill me after ksateboarding. What should I do?!

Question: I've picked up skating again for the first time in 2 years. I'm 22, 5'9", and 200lbs (when I stopped skating, I weighed roughly 180-200). I haven't had any trouble previously with my knees. They hurt after my first session, and I haven't gone more than a week without skating since. Sugs?

you need to keep up the skating, the more you use your knees the more your body will produce a product that lubercates your knees. and untill this kicks in it will hurt, but if you skate a little bit and quit and wait a while and then do it again and quit, that is where you get the wearing of the joints, you have to stick with it till it quits hurting then you'll feel much better, and loose a little bit of that belly as well.

Not trying to be rude, but the extra weight that you are carrying around is destroying your knees especially when you are very active doing something like skateboarding. Too much stress on your knees.

I run and have the same issue. I usually elevate my legs on pillows while I lay down. That helpes the blood flow and takes the pain away for me. I have been told that also helps soreness and circulation.

Put like tissues under ur knee pads.

use voltaren

Probably lack of nutrition, as a kid you ingested more vitamins and calcium from moms cooking lol. try buying one a day pills from a to zinc, they help and eat healthy fruits for good energy, do this and youll feel good, greasy fat foods make you feel like crap.

Try putting an ice pack on them for 20 minutes after skating [while sitting down] and then taking it off for 20 minutes and then putting a hot pack on for 20 minutes and then off for 20 minutes and alternate them 'til you feel some relief.

that stuff by the makers of Head On or theraputic patches... maybe soaking in hot water... or rub that blue stuff on your knees that has a really strong scent.

Then maybe you should NOT be skating. You should see a doctor about your knee. If it's interfering with activities you love, then you should find out why & if there is any permanent damage or if the doctor can give you medication for it so it don't hurt while your skating.

definately ice it when you're done and try doing some exercises that strengthen your knees eat a banana before you go out, if it hurts bad enough try some motrin that helps me. hope i helped.
