Have i damaged myself from doing weights?!


Question: I went to the gym the other day (3 days ago), i havent been in about 6 months. I lifted quite alot of heavy weights for about 40 minutes.

My arms, ribs and shoulders are now in so much agony even after 3 days, I can barely move my arms quickly!

Have i damaged my arms or will they recover well again?

No, you will hurt for about a week. You shouldn't jump back into any exercise (at the point you left off or exercise to such an extreme). Anytime you start an exercise you hurt for days. Don't life again until you are almost feeling 100% or you WILL injur yourself more. Rest, and start slower with less weight - your muscles remember so it won't take you long before you are back to where you were 6 months ago.

Since the pain is all over both of your arms, you can count on it returning to normal in a few days. The next time you lift, take it a bit easier and remember to stretch before and after your workout.
