How do I get rid of my ear infection?!

Question: I used to have it once every 3 years but now I'm having it once every 3 weeks >.< But now my ear infection last for 5 days and it's driving me insane because I get so dizzy and I'd throw up the food I eat, because I thought maybe taking pain killers or allergy medicine would take the pain away on my ears and dizziness. I can't afford to go to the doctor right now, so I would get antibiotics if I could, is there anything else I can do? please help! >.<

Since you are a military dependent you know it isn't going to cost you anything but your time to go to the clinic. Just get someone else to drive you in case you have a dizzy spell.

According to WebMD, "1. Do all middle ear infections need antibiotics?
No, as a matter of fact, the vast majority of middle ear infections will get better on their own without antibiotics. It will take longer, of course, and there will be several days of pain that will need to be addressed. Our own immune system does a pretty good job in curing many infections. Antibiotics should always be used in very young children (under age six months) or in children who have had complications in the past from untreated ear infections.

Here is a message Board at webMD that will answer your question about the dizziness: http://boards.webmd.com/webx?14@@.5987f4...

the only thing you can really do is go to the doctor.....before you get even more sick and the infection spreads.

Go To Doctor

you must consult your doctor.

you will get crap advice from yahoo answers and will probably gets worse if you do what some guy tells you to do on yahoo

perform oral sex , seriously and let him plug your nose

plz go to the doctor its ur life

Forced marriage was it? Roffle.

I used to get a lot of ear infections, I suspect it was because I stuck a q-tip in my ear canal even though doctors and the package say never do that. I started dropping some hydrogen peroxide in my ears every day and that really seemed to work out for me. I would put a few drops in one ear and lay on my side for awhile so the peroxide would be able to get all the way in there, and then switch sides, takes about ten minutes.

first try to find out what you have ate in the last 4 weeks or ask your mom what is in you every-day food. if not do you have a piercing??? maybe that is it don't panic that just makes it worst:)

if you have dizziness that means your middle and inner ear are infected. (that's where our sense of balance is.) you can end up with a permanent sense of vertigo if you don't go to the doctor to get this treated. You probably need antibiotics and ear drops.

Keep Q-tips out of your ear and do not Get them wet. That includes causing yourself to sweat. the moisture will encourage the 'bad' bacteria.

I had exactly the same thing and my eardrum exploded, it had something to do with the temperature of my ears when i had it. Too hot = strain on the eardrum = Pain.
Same with too cold, so try to keep them the right temperature.
However i am probably very wrong and it could be many different things though so i suggest you do go and see a doctor.

Well, when was the last time you went to see the doctors? It sounds like you don't go for a check up unless you have to. And if the infection really is to the point where your nauseous and hurting there really is no point. Besides, the ear infection could be a symptom of a greater illness. What do want to do? Wait until you end up in the emergency room?

I'm sorry, but you do have to go to the doctor. An untreated ear infection can cause hearing damage that is permanent. It happened to me. You need to see a specialist if it keeps coming back.

theres not much you can do without seeing a doctor. sorry to say. it will probably just keep coming back and getting worse the longer you let it go without seeing a doctor about it.

Im speaking from experience because I have chronic ear infections. or i did. but then I opted to have an adult tube put in the problematic ear and I havent had an ear infection ever again since they did that. best thing I ever did for myself.

I know its expensive to go to the doctor if you dont have health insurance. but you still should because letting it go means eventually a visit to the ER and an ER visit is going to pinch your pockets much worse then a little dr. visit.

Are you sure you're not pregnant? I've never heard of such ear infection. To me, it sounded like you're pregnant. Why I said that? Pregnant women started out getting dizzy, then they throw up the food they eat. There will be certain smell that they can't take it and it'll make them dizzy and throw up too. You should test it out, you never know! And if you are pregnant, this dizziness and throwing up thing will last months...good luck!

see a doctor...but have someone vlow smoke in the ear. i use to have them as a child and that helped me alot. seriously!!!!

The first concern is that you should have an ear infection treated. You didn't mention whether you had pain and fever associated with the other symptoms. If there is pain and fever, you definitely should go to an emergency room and be seen. Some people have recurrent middle ear infections if they have an antibiotic resistant streptococcus causing their infection. The doctor will be able to provide an effective treatment that can quickly end the infection and decongest the blocked eustacian tube which will allow drainage. If a middle ear infection (i.e. Otitis Media) is not treated it could cause extension of the infection into the lining of your brain (Meningitis).

If there is no pain and no fever associated with your symptoms there is a remote possibility you have Meniere's Syndrome. There might also be a buzzing in your ear called Tinnitus associated with the fullness and dizziness. This disease is treated differently than Otitis Media, so, once again, it is important that you get medical attention.
