Help!!! I think I might have a tongue infection.?!

Question: My tongue has been causing me pain for a few days now.
It just happened over night!

On the side of my tongue, there are lots of bumps that are sensitive. It hurts to touch them. It also hurts to chew food or swallow. I can't taste food very well either on the places where the bumps are. Liquids cause pain too.

My mouth always feels dry and it's painful to swallow sometimes.

The top of my tongue is fine. There is no white film or anything like that. It's just the sides. I haven't bit my tongue, and I haven't burnt it or eaten anything spicy or acidic. Please, do you know any type of infection that holds this criteria???

This does 'sound like' THRUSH, which is an oral yeast infection. It is very contagious and spreads easily, re; kissing, sharing drinks, eating utensils, simply putting your fingers in your mouth and touching objects that others come into contact with while the fungi is still viable. On the other hand, tis impossible to diagnose without a visual and proper testing procedures being available..you NEED to SEE a REAL Doctor...ASAP...Good luck to you..Take Great Care of YOU

If you have been taking any antibiotics you could have thrust, see your doctor ASAP.

Try gargling for a few days with an alchol-free mouth wash that fights germs. If that doesn't help; go to the doc.
Good Luck!

i know you said you didn't bite your tongue, but what you're describing sounds like you may have. since it just happened over night, you probably bit your tongue in your sleep. mouth bites can be very painful (personal experience! ouch!) anyways, it should go away in about a week. if not, see a doctor because it could be infected. human bites are a lot worse than a dog, cat, or any other animal bite because the human mouth has a LOT more bacteria. so, if it gets worse or doesn't go away see a doctor. hope this helps!
