Knee problems - losing thigh muscle?!
Question: My father is almost 53 years old. He has been playing basketball for over 20 years, and still plays three times a week full court. He has no cartilage in either knee, and they are both severely swollen. He has intense pain in both knees which sometimes make it so that he can barely walk or sit. Recently, his thigh muscle has been depleting at a rapid rate. His legs are now skinny and lack any definition in the thigh area. What can happen if he continues playing? Will he be unable to walk soon? Why is this?
He cares for an 87 year old woman at home, his mother who cannot walk or do anything on her own. She is as close to a cripple as you can be. I'm worried this knee injury stuff may be getting more serious than I ever thought. Any advice to what can happen if he continues playing would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Sound like he needs bilateral knee replacements (BKR's) Don't put it off...
