Why does water taste different when I just wake up?!

Question: When I wake up in the middle of the night or right when I wake up it tastes different. Is it because my taste buds are asleep or something?

It is because of the bacteria that has developed in your mouth or just that you have not run the tap for long enough before getting a drink. runnin for long helps

It might be because of the taste in your mouth you get when you're sleeping (like morning breath). I guess that could affect the taste of water.

It could be any number of reasons. The closer to wake up time we get, the more the body shuts down. (Try staying awake through the night and you'll notice that 3am is the hardest).
Or it could be that the water has either stagnated in the pipes the most, or it could be getting used more by other folks who are getting up earlier than you.

Probably because you haven't used them in a while, like your metabolism and other functions in your body, they have to be woken up when you are. A lot of things shut down while you're asleep to repair tissue dammage. So, they're just not warmed up yet when you first climb out of bed!
