Can I take a Midol AND a percocet, or is that like double dosing the same stuff?!

Question: Isn't it the same thing like when you have surgery and they give you an anti-inflammetory and pain pills as well , and tell you to take them together? Or no?

Midol contains either naproxen or ibuprofen, both of which are NSAIDs (non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs). Percocet contains acetaminophen and oxycodone, both of which are painkillers but do not act in your body to reduce inflammation. Therefore, they give you both so you will be relieved of pain, and so that you won't have a bunch of swelling and such from the inflammation.

Midol is generally aspirin or tylenol with a few other things. Percoset is Oxycodone, a very powerful narcotic with tylenol.

If you're taking Percoset, you don't need Midol, which is a much milder, non-narcotic pain reliever.

I wouldn't risk the interaction of the 2 medications. Percocet is a strong narcotic and the other is a type of fever/pain reducer. I would at the least ask a pharmacist if those 2 are safe to combine before you even think of seriously taking them now. Mixing medicines can have dangerous results.
