You might have bursitis its an inflammation of the joint (google it for more info) I have it and sometimes it gets better and goes away for months, other times I feel it daily (i think its effects might have something to do with diet) hope this helps.

Remove maracas from hip pocket.... problem solved!

If no maracas, then it's probably one of the following: arthritis, deterioration of the hip joint, or a hip pointer. For your sake, I'm hoping it was the maracas.

Good luck.

Sciatica is pain resulting from irritation of the sciatic nerve. Sciatica pain is typically felt from the low back to behind the thigh and radiating down below the knee. The sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in the body and begins from nerve roots in the lumbar spinal cord in the low back and extends through the buttock area to send nerve endings down the lower limb.
While sciatica is most commonly a result of a disc herniation directly pressing on the nerve, any cause of irritation or inflammation of this nerve can reproduce the symptoms of sciatica. These causes include irritation of the nerve from adjacent bone, tumors, muscle, internal bleeding, infections, injury, and other causes. See a Chiropractor for an adjustment to fix this problem.

You may have tendonitis in your hip. I have this and I now have arthritis to go along with it. I am only 31, so don't think this is just something old people have! With the tendonitis, I was told by my doctor the best thing to do is stretch, so if this is your problem, you are doing the right thing. Massage also helps.
