Broken toe - will it go back to its shape if I wear a shoe?!

Question: I broke my little toe a few months ago and have just started wearing shoes. The toe however now sticks out a bit and does not sit in under the other toes like on my good foot. If I wear closed shoes for a length of time do you think it will sit neatly under the other toes again? I have very nice feet otherwise and am disappointed that it does this now. I would not bother with surgery though as it is not that big a deal.

I tried not to do this, but I couldn't help myself. I just have to ask..."Did you call a TOE truck?"

Seriously though, about the only thing I can think of if you don't want to consider surgery is to try training the bent toe by taping it so it is as close to looking like the toe on the other foot as possible. Naturally, you can't leave the toe taped forever, but hopefully it will help train it to stay how you want it when the tape is removed. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
You may also want to consider physical therapy. Maybe they can help and maybe not.

I broke my toe and wore shoes too soon and my toe is crooked. Next time you go to the doctor be sure to ask him if there is anything that you can do to get the toe back in the right place.

Go see your doctor. He or she should be able to help you with that.

Surgery would recorrect any disfigurment due to your breakage but since your not wanting that i'd speak to your doctor to find out if there is any other possible way!

ps. just to let you know, a fried of mines had a similar problem after breaking a knuckle. They got a pin put in and it was corrected after a few weeks, then pin was removed. (he didnt have to get knocke out! they done it by just numbing his hand!!)
