Severe pain in my shoulders after my massage, why?!
Question: I had my first massage on Saturday and ever since I have had severe pain under my right shoulder blade and on the muscle above my collar bone (traps or deltoids i don't remember what it's called.) Is something wrong or is this supposed to happen? My back didn't hurt at all before I went (I had a gift certificate so I had to go) and now I'm in pain. What should I do?

Sometimes we get into bad habits, be it of posture or just plain old tensing up of the muscles without us realizing it. When we go for a massage they loosen these muscles back to how they really should be and of course they're not used to being like that, so they protest :) Try a heat pad for a couple of days and some Ibuprofen (take with food) and the next time you go (if ever), ask them what you can do to prevent this from happening.
