Muscle fiber coming out of cut??!

Question: Ok, so i accidentally slipped while i was drilling a hole in some wood, and a .25" drill bit kinda went 1/2 through my finger, and the bit stopped while still in. so i pulled it out, but the muscle fiber had wound around the drill bit, and i pulled a bunch of muscle out of my finger. now its just sitting, hanging out of the wound. it doesn't hurt to touch, to my surprise, but i can't seem to push it back in.. any ideas? its not bleeding like crazy so i don't need to go to the ER, and its not big enough to have to suture. im thinking of just cutting the muscle off with some sterile fingernail scissors and taping it up. thoughts?

do NOT do anything to the cut yourself!!

report to the emergency room at once to have the wound cleaned and sutured (even if they can't stitch it-they'll use dermabond which is a special type of superglue NOT the same as regular superglue).

you run a HIGH risk of getting an infection when tissue and muscle become exposed after an injury. the drill bit was far from clean not to mention germs in the air. you don't want to tape it up yourself, trapping germs b/c if you get an infection-you could end up losing your finger or needing surgery.

go to the er and let them clean it out the right way and fix you up.

Suggestion: See doctor. Although there is no bleeding but better play safe then nothing. Take care!

Yes, I agree with the others that you should get this seen to. Drills do damage to tissue (it is not as simple as a cut might be I think) and you might be able to avoid longer term problems with the finger or infection if you get it seen too now. Good luck with it.
