I think I twisted my knee. How do I help cure it?!

Question: Ok. For a couple of months now, whenever I put a lot of pressure on my left knee or stay bent on it for awhile or keep my leg completely straight for awhile it hurts like all around my kneecap and sometimes like right underneath my kneecap.
I asked my dad what he thought and he said it's like I twisted it.
Will putting it in a brace help it get better?

First of all...you could have twisted a ligament in your knee or a tendon. You could have torn the meniscus in the knee also which usually requires surgery to repair. There may not be a "cure" for the problem. The only way to find out is to go to your doctor so that they can do some special x-rays and see what kind of damage, if any, you did to your knee. After that is when your doctor will decide what kind of treatment you will need. It is not difficult to mess up your knee badly. From your description it sounds as if you may have a meniscual problem. It is located right under the knee cap. Also if you tore a ligament they are usually located on the side of the knee. Just don't do any guessing with this. Go ASAP to your doctor and get medical intervention. Things can get very bad if you don't get treatment for this. Putting it in a brace just until you see your doctor may be of help with the pain because the brace will stabilize your knee. But go and let your doctor decide what will need to be done. Good luck to you and I truly hope it wont' be too bad for you. Take care!

That sounds like patellofemoral pain syndrome. You would be best served to have your parents take you to see an orthopedic doctor and then go through physical therapy to strengthen your leg muscles.
