BROKE RIGHT-Yes, it does make sense. Your may have fallen on ur right side but you must have shifted your ribs. If you cracked a right side rib and 1/2 of the cracked piece is interfearing with the left side then its very possible..

BROKE LEFT-if it physically feels like you broke a left rib then its probably this: when you move your back bone or vertebrate moves. When you fall on your chest it moves awkwardly and so does ur rib cage. You may have a collision of bones and it somewhere cracked a left rib. Even a dislocated shoulder can crack a rib.

could be a broken rib.. any side... in that case it should be very painful for you to take a deep breath.. then need to see the surgeon, or but a band around the chest, where the broken rib is..
if not causing big problems for breathing, could be just some ligament injury.. if not serious it'll heal in a couple of weeks...
dont go on ice!! :)

if you fell so hard, it is possible...go to the doctor and get X-rays done

It is very possible that when you fell you jared your total ribcage. you don't state your age, if you are older it may be that arthritis is seriously irritated.
Another thought is tha while you were falling you were tryingto maintain your balance, thrasging your arms about and you've landard in a very awkward way, possibly jaring your spine. This may not be a horrible as you first think, but the pain you are feeling could be a 'referred' pain from your back.
You need to go to the Doctor and have it checked out properly.
