I need to teach a topic for my nursing class?!

Question: I have to pick a topic to teach in my nursing class.
I have to identify some kind of procedure that a client needs more instruction on. This would be something that a client has to do for him or herself.
It says to pick something that you feel needs to be developed and be original.
My teacher stressed, not to pick something where many resources already exists.

Thank you for any ideas you may have!

Argh. Any procedure that a patient would have to do for his/herself would have to be clearly written up and discussed already - so an expectation of something orignial - sheesh. What, are you going to come up with some new home care procedure! Sorry, I hated nursing school. So things people have to do at home: wound care, ostomy bags, cathing, maintaining clean central venous access, at home dressing changes, CPAP - BIPAP machines, injections (insulin, hormones, etc) - All this has been done before, so just resign yourself to that and get it over with. Ooh just remembered, sunscreen application - there is new stuff out about how much to use, how often and how to apply.

ummmmm, diabetes stuff (i kno not original), self cathing....um self breast or testes exams.........this is a hard one.......i guess at the hospital there is little that they do for themselves or are sent home to do for themselves.......
