What can I do about my sons pediatrician?!

Question: Everytime I take my son to see him, he acts like he is in a big hurry and that I am wasting his time. I am paying for a service and he acts like he is doing me a big favor. My son has been very sick before, and he acts like it is nothing and that I have wasted his time.

This is really simple. Talk to your pediatrician. Is he overworked? Or does he think you blow things out of proportion?

Either way, you need to find a compromise or a new pediatrician.

You have hired the pediatrician by deciding to go to him. The payment comes to him because you have picked him; so you are paying him either directly or indirectly. Sit him down and tell him what you are feeling and that you want more time. Tough if he doesn't want to, get another doctor and tell the other one that you are changing because of this. He will change. You have rights as a consumer and as your sons power of attorney(parent) to act in your sons best interest, if you do not have the information to act in his best interest the doctor needs to chill and give you what you need. Would you go to a mechanic that didn't give you an explanation of what was wrong with your car or what you could do to prevent it next time? I don't think so. How much more precious is health?

There should be a state level office that over sees all doctors. You might want to talk to them. The state Attorney General is another source to take your complaint to as they over see consumer complaints. First thing, however, confront the doctor, tell him how you feel.

REPORT ALL OF THEM! they are breaking some serious rules. Ask them if they even know what Maslow's Triangle is(see link below).
They are clearly not considering patient safety.
They will be investigated. The insurance companies and AMA (not to mention other families)take reports seriously.
