Is under 8 hours of sleep dangerous?!

It depends on the person, some people are fine with only six. I think on average you should get eight. You can find out your nature sleep cycle in, "ideal" conditions. Where you go to bed the same time, have no time to wake up. Then keep a log after the third day (sort of a reset for the body) of what time you go to bed and wake up each day. Do this for a week and come up with the average which should be pretty close to the prior days. Do not take any caffeine or watch TV or read before or in bed. This will tell you your natural, "need" for sleep.

Most people need 8 hours a night but some people manage quite well on 6 or 7 hours a night but some people actually need 9 or even 10 hours a night.

Normally it depends on what age you are. Teenagers tend to need more sleep, than adults. But for the most part 8 hrs is normally sufficient. As far as being dangerous it is not going to kill you, but it could affect your health over a long period of time.

Not dangerous. Most people need only 7 to 7 1/2 hours. 8 hours is stretching it. I have sleep apnea and know a lot about sleeping habits and requirements. Whoever told you 8 is misinformed. You can make up lack of sleep one day a week too. Your body has a way to make up for loss sleep.

According to the "60 Minute" program, adults need about 8 and teens 9-10. But, it does vary some depending on the individual.

Lack of sleep can cause all sorts of problems, many unrecognised. It seems to mess up blood sugar metabolism and cause excessive hungar, thus weight gain.
