When i have hiccups?!
Question: i drink from the other side of the glass and they go immediately - how does this work
Answers: i drink from the other side of the glass and they go immediately - how does this work
Hiccups are caused by a spasming diaphragm muscle. Getting it to relax is the key and many methods could work. Personally I've always used the 'holding a deep breath for a slow count of twenty' method; because this stresses the diaphragm, which then relaxes on the outbreath and forgets to spasm.
Your 'changing the side of the glass' option may simply be a case of distraction; your focus is taken from your discomfort momentarily and the nerve signal 'loop' is forgotten long enough for the norm' to reassert itself. Unusual, but very fortunate for you. I seem to have to work harder. :-)
Try a spoon full of sugar, honest, works for me.
I cure my hiccups by holding my breath, perhaps your method also starves the cause of air.
I take an antacid it works for me.
I don't know why different things work for different people!
I am glad yours works though !!
