Severe Foot Cramps?!

Question: Every once in a while (about once a week) I'll get these really intense foot cramps. My whole foot locks up, and it kills to touch it or move it. I have no idea where its coming from, and what i can do to stop it. I'm only 14. I play soccer three times a week for about an hour and a half, and i have gym class daily for about an hour if that makes any difference. Any ideas on how to make them feel better, or make them stop. Also, should i go to the doctor??

*Oh, and i can't swallow pills. I know, i'm a wuss. But I just haven't mastered the skill yet, so no pill cures only, please!

"Stretch. A regular stretching program can relax muscles, decrease
tension and stiffness, and promote flexibility."

"Drink plenty of water. Dehydration can cause muscle tension. When you
feel thirsty, you are already dehydrated, so drink before you feel the
need. Dehydration is common and can cause many health issues."

"Exercise regularly, especially cardiovascular exercise. Increased
circulation and blood flow nourishes muscles and eases tension."

"Supplement your diet with calcium, magnesium, potassium, or zinc, or
eat foods rich in those nutrients. Tight muscles cannot release
without these substances in your body."

a medical checkup. It is important that your mother's physician rule
out circulatory problems which may also cause of leg cramping.

eat bananas!!!

You should check it out @ the doctor....deff, cuz it could be something that u hurt when u were playing w/e sports u were playing...it might go away or it could be something that u have to help. idk.

I'm not exactly sure what you can do for it, but back when I danced all the time - especially ballet - I would get foot cramps too. They've gone away since I stopped dancing.

Its called a charlie horse.....you need more potassium in your diet. Eat some more bananas!!

That happens to me also, its annoying. I usually just straighten my foot out with my hands

I get them too, but not at your age, I suggest you see a doctor.

Omg i get cramps too i get them in my calfs too and my toes. I HATE THEM! I have no clue why i get them but i think i get them when i dont drink enough water.

You may have a condition commonly known as "restless legs". Starts in teenage and seems to last for many years. Hormone levels may contribute to problem as women taking hormone replacement find leg and foot cramps improve. Potassium and Quinine may also be useful ... check with doctor

Go to the Doctor and get it checked out. I get those sometime and I found out it was a pair of shoes that I ware. If I ware them to long I get the foot cramps.
