Has anyone had very low iron?? and what caused it???????????????????????!

Question: Very low iron can be caused by many different factors. You should eat plenty of green leafy vegetables like broccoli, spinach and other vegetables that have a high iron content.

Also Beef Liver is a good source of liver to bring your iron level up.

I had low iron when pregnant and I ate the beef liver---fried with gravy and onions--the best way and act plenty of the vegetables above and my levels came up and have had no more problems with the iron levels. I was 25 then and I am now 37.

I do. A lot of women are anemic because of their period. I'm not sure for men. Do you eat read meat? Dark greens like spinach is good in iron also.

Depends upon your age. If you are a girl and between the ages of 12 and 40 it is not uncommon. You are losing iron each month during your menstrual cycle and should be taking a multi-vitamin with iron every day. To make up for the loss, some women have to take an addition FeSu (ferrus sulphate) supplement. This is typically combined with Vitamin D for facilitate absorbtion. If you aren't getting out in the sun, you don't metabolize the iron you take in. The sun is the only natural source of Vitamin D.
So, get outside as often as possible, take a supplemental vitamin tablet and have a re-check after a month or two.

If you lose blood, like the first answerer said when women are menstruating, or if you have a lot of injuries, you can get low iron. Also if you don't have enough iron in your diet, that can cause low iron.

no, i do not. what causes it? not enough rbc or blood cell formation?their are different types like 5?

my friends gramma was a nurse and she made Emma eat raw liver when she had her period.

It depends on your body; some people have a tendency to low iron (both men and women, though its usually more common and more severe for women)
I have always been anaemic, but I had dangerously low iron levels at one point and nearly went to hospital; it was because I was on a largely vegetarian diet for over a year (I was living in a dorm where the meals provided were veg only).
blood, liver, kidneys are good ways to get iron (if you enjoy them and know how to cook and eat them -not everyone does!)
some vegetables do have high iron, but its nowhere near as much as meat products.
hope this helps!
