What is the best way to request oxycontin from the doctor?!

Question: I'm quite posative that my foot is broken, and I'm going to the ER later today. I'm fairly certain they'll give me some kind of medication, and I'd prefer oxys over tylenol 3s. Is there any way I can request this without coming off as a drug addict?

yea...what i said before in my other deleted answer.
hollar.

Most likely they won't give you something that strong.Try looking at the script and saying that you,ve been on them before and they don't do anything for you pain wise. They might give you something stronger but not Oxycontin.I get them (30mg) when ever I need them ,but I only go in for them 3-4x a year.I was in a car accident that left me with 4 ruptured disks, and I won't have surgery yet(afraid to,might make me worse in the long run)
Just keep your foot elevated and stay off it as much as possible.
Hope you feel better

For the ER they probably won't give you much. They see so many drug seekers that it has hurt the folks that really do need pain medications. Unless you have something really wrong they are not going to give you oxy's that's for sure.
Here is what I do with communicating my pain to my doctor.
.
Start a daily journal of your pain. Nothing fancy. I use a steno pad for each month.
Record:
Where you hurt
When you hurt
How badly you hurt on a scale of 1-10
And most important, how the pain is effecting what you can and cannot do.

Take it with you to the doctor. It's hard to communicate your concerns in just a few minutes with the doctor so the journal allows him to better treat you.

Here are a few links that may also help you with pain management.

Good luck

oh, simple. Tell them only thing that works are oxys, and Muffin Momma is right about the stomache pains from the others. Easiest way to get them to give something else.
