Do you know anything about shingles? Have you ever had them?!

Question: I was diagnosed with shingles at the end of January. I was wanting to know...do you just wake up one day and the pain is gone, does the pain get less and less and then its gone. I sure would like to know what to expect.

less and less until it's finally gone. my mother and my brother have had shingles and i know it seemed to take *forever* before the pain receded... but it did go away.

shingles is a form of herpes, the pain associated with shingles is called herpetic neuralgia. And unfortunately, no one can predict how long you will have pain, or if it will ever go away completely. The virus lives in the nerves, and can cause pain for a very long time. Often tho, the pain fades as the rash fades.

I had them and am one of the unlucky few who has had them several times. Some people have lingering pain in the nerve, some people don't from what I have read and been told. There's a lot of interesting information on the internet. Lysene, an amino acid is something you might research.Good luck to you.
