Can constipation cause gas in upper abdomen/breast-bone?!

Question: I have been constipated for a few days now from pills I am. I fell on the ice and gave myself whiplash so I was on many painkillers a day. Short story, they ended up constipating me.

Last night after I ate dinner I started getting indigestion pain and went to bed (probably bad move). About 2 in the morning I woke up with a severe pain in my upper abdomen and between my shoulder blades in my back. I took Ovol (which I think is the same as Gas-x) and it cut it for about an hour until I woke up again with the same pain. I just took a few senokot and it feels like it is working.....Could this all be caused from the constipation?

I am not a suffer of any heartburn or indigestion so I wouldnt know.....Not usually a suffer of constipation either but with the anti-inflammatories it is a different story

Thanks and Happy Easter all!

HAPPY BUNNY DAY to you too! I have been on pain killers for quite some time and , yes, they make you constipated. This will cause chest pain almost to the point where you think you are going to have a heart attack. The best and most natural way to deal with this is too get some papaya pills and chew 3 of them after you eat-each time that you eat. If this doesn't stop you problem, I would suggest that you talk to your doctor. I wish only the best for you and hope that you recover quickly. Hope that what works for me will work for you!

wind and constipation go hand in hand - if nothing's coming out, more bacteria are eating on the digested food and themselves expiring, which causes the buildup of gas.

just drink lots of water and eat raisins

Narcotic pain meds slow gastric motility, so your bowels slow down and get sluggish, which makes you costipated. If you take them regularly, you might want to take a stool softener with a lot of water, just to prevent this.

If stool isn't moving, than neither is the gas, which could explain your problem

I want to caution you though, if this lasts too long, the pain gets worse, or you get extremely bloated, go to the hospital to make sure you are not impacted or obstructed. If your bowel gets blocked completely it can be very serious. If that happens the pain is severe and you likely will have nausea and vomiting as well.

For now, take stool softeners, and eat a few prunes
