This sounds like a lymph node. Lymph nodes are suppose to swell up when there is an infection somewhere in the area of the swollen node. This is part of your immune system, and these little nodes are designed to work that way.

Your lymph nodes, also called glands, play a vital role in your body's ability to fight off viruses, bacteria and other causes of illnesses. Some 600 lymph nodes are situated throughout your body, with the majority in your head and neck. The lymph nodes that most frequently swell are in your neck, under your chin, in your armpits and in your groin. The site of the swollen lymph nodes may help identify the underlying cause.

Treatment for inflamed, swollen lymph nodes, also known as lymphadenitis, depends on the cause. In some cases, over-the-counter (OTC) pain relievers and warm compresses may be all you need. For more serious cases, treatment of swollen lymph nodes involves treating the underlying cause.

Take care my friend.

Go to doctor tommorrow, he will know. I have a good igea and I don't think it is any thing but I am not going to practice medicine

Depends on where it is located on your neck.. It could be a swollen lymph node. These are found on either side of the neck, behind your ears, or under your chin.

It could be a ruptured disk my buddy is a heavy lifter and it happened to him he said his whole back went numb and its a huge bump, i dont know if he said herniated disk or ruptured disk but you should deff. get it checked out if its one of those it will deff. need surgery
