Front of lower leg - why is there only thin skin then bone. Whereas at back musc!

Question: I can almost feel the undulations of the bone itself. Why is the bone left so unprotected there, but it has oodles of muscle and fat at the back?

It's a matter of function, Neil.

All the shin has to do is help the ankle raise the foot. That's it. doesn't take much in the way of muscle.

The calf, on the other hand, has to lift and propel the weight of the entire body forward with every step.

not mine.lol

Why have you got a brain?. what a waste, next.

Apparently so i can waste my time answering nonsense questions with nonsense answers. Yes guilty as charged!.

Because that is just how the good Lord made us. It is the wonderful design that helps us to walk and be able to move our legs the way we do.

It is the product of evolution and genetics. The front has a slightly different muscle than what is in the back. The back muscles help provide support to lift, run and jump.

The bones actually provide support and protection to the tissues, arteries and veins muscles behind it...
