HELP with restless leg syndrome...!!!?!

Question: I'm pretty sure I have restless leg syndrome, and it gets really bad when I lay down to sleep so it's been causing insomnia...problem is, I don't have a doc's appointment until Thursday. Does anyone have any tips for dealing with it until then? I haven't really been able to sleep in days...

know what you're going thru, not easy.I can't take requip or mirapex as allergic & sleeping meds don't help at all. What I do for RLS is stretch my legs before I go to bed them take a tylenol..It does help...sometimes..

Also when you see your Dr let him/her run tests to see the cause of the RLS.Could be a vitamin deficiency, anemia or possibly neuropathy..

Good Luck,

There are a few things you can try. Here is a link that should help you. Best of luck with it and I hope you are feeling better soon.

The only thing I have found that would help me with my RLS symptoms is to take some over-the-counter sleeping aids such as melatonin (preferably) or Tylenol PM (if its all you have). Then while you are feeling drowsy and laying in bed, clench and release your leg muscles over and over. Just tighten and release your leg muscles, until you drift off to sleep. Feeling the release from un-clenching the leg muscles can be soothing to those "gotta move" feelings. RLS is tough to deal with, and this method may not work for everyone, but I hope this method will give you a little relief until your doctor's appointment.

what i do for my husband is massage his legs when they're restless.

I have read to sleep with a bar of soap in bed. I read it in the newspaper column "People's Pharmacy"

An old remedy is quinine water, (I think it's tonic water) which can be bought in a store. I know some elderly ladies that swear by it.

I have it also and I refused to take the medicine the Doc gave me because of the side
affects associated with it.
I started to take 2 aleve before I went to bed and that seems to help.
Good luck

I have rls and take requip. when I do not have meds with me - I take a double dose of benadryl and some Ibuprofen.

My husband has it, and he takes tylenol and the symptoms
usually disappear.
