I think I have a concussion...?!

Question: My head has been throbbing and I get really dizzy. I'm overly tired and I can't focus on anything. The problem is I can't get into the doctors for another week and I have soccer practice and games all this week. I can't just not go to them, especially if I'm not even sure if I have a concussion or not. But, if I do have one, I shouldn't be playing soccer. Ahhh, what should I do?

Yes you had a concussion...dizziness, unable to focus, and headaches are all symptoms of having had a concussion. It would be best for you to see a doctor.
NO!....there is no way you should play soccer until all of your symptoms have gone away for 1 week and cleared by a doctor to play. You can cause serious brain damage or even die if you suffer another concussion (even a mild one) while still having not fully recovered from the first concussion. Its known as Secondary Impact Syndrome (SIS).

Why do you think you have concussion? Have you had a head injury? If so, go to A&E now and get an x-ray.

Call the doctors office and let them know what happened. If you still cant get an appointment go to Patient first, and ergent care center, or even the ER. You must get this ckecked out. Have you had any nausea or vomiting this is a major symptom of a concusion also have you lost consousnes or has your body color changed. Get help soon. Your coch should understnad how serious this could be and excuse you from practice. I know it sucks to miss the game but sometimes stuff happens. Be careful this could be seious nad you need medical care. Try to rest and keep cool rags on your head until you get to the doctor. If you go to sleep have someone frequently check on you. Do not stay alone. If you start develping any new symtoms or if you feel worse call 911 and go to the hospital.
