Question: It depends on your area....do you live in a city or a rural area? In CA say San Francisco you'll start out around $18.00 per hour, but in the rural areas it can be as low as $10.00.
Also in CA unless you are grandfathered in you have to have a CA license or get one before you apply for a job...because this will help. Maybe some hospitals will let you work, with the proviso that you pass your exam, if not you might not get to stay on staff.
There is also the Job as a Lab Asst. and that in some places will pay you more. You get to learn more and so the pay is a little higher, but not all labs will do this.
Should you wish to work for a Cancer center, then you have to know what your doing, and be sharp about it....the pay can be very good. You will need experience, that is the only way to be able to work there.

it all depends on the area. I know in ohio or pennsylvania, if you travel, you may start out around $10/hour. If you stay in a lab and work, they start out at $8.50+.
