Nose Keeps Bleeding?!

Question: I can't take it anymore!

Ever since June, that's when my nose first started bleeding like everyday for like a month. First I thought it was because I went in the pool for the first time that year.

It stopped and now it is starting AGAIN. It has happened like 5 times in like 2 weeks. And I don't want it bleeding at school.

The first time this year, it was bleeding for like 45 minutes straight at like 1:30 in the morning.

Could it be because of the sudden warm air?

What could cause this?

How can I get it to stop?

If you are not getting enough vitamin C, you can have frequent nose bleeds as well as your gums bleeding. If you think you are getting enough of this vitamin, it may simply be too dry.

They make a saline solution you can irrigate your sinuses with. They also make a vaseline type product (mostly for people who are on oxygen) that you can coat your nasal passages with.

If this is your only symptom, it is more than likely a dry nose. I don't know what area you are in, but if you have been running your heating system it will dry your nose out. Also, it can be caused by allergies and blowing your nose all the time.

If it persists, you may want to see your doctor just to make sure there isn't something else going on.

You could have been right about the pool last year because chlorinated water can dry out your nasal passages.

Seasonal change could be a factor. Dry air can cause nosebleeds. To stop the bleeding, apply pressure or an ice pack. If it continues to recur, see your doctor about it. Have you tried a humidifier in your room at night? This might sound strange, but make sure you are drinking a lot of water, too. It might help your mucous membranes to heal.

you need to go to a doctor to outrule anything serious.
dont take any chances with your health.

I would see a doctor about it....it sounds like there is more then just a bad nose bleed...

Do you take asprin or some other blood thinner. Could be you are taking too much or something. Check with your doctor.

If you take asprin for other reasons, like pain, fever, etc then you should try some other NSAID.

Citrus bioflavonoids help to strengthen weak blood vessels so plenty of oranges or mandarins might help or a citrus bioflavonoid supplement every day might help.

is it dry in your house, because that is usually what causes constant nose bleeds

My mom had this happen last summer. She just all of a sudden started getting crazy nose bleeds. We went to the ER a couple of times. They tried packing it and cauterizing, but it didn't work.

Basically, she has vessels close to the skin in the nose that when just barely dry, they bleed. She puts a very thin layer of Vaseline in there every night and sleeps with a humidifier. She has gone on vacation before and survived without the humidifier with no nose bleeds.

Go see a doctor just in case it is a sign of high blood pressure or something else more serious. Nose bleeds are a common sign of high blood pressure, but don't always mean high blood pressure. A doctor can rule out things!
