What in cement causes an open cut to sting so much?!
Question: mixed concrete yesterday got some in a cut, it stung like hell! i have washed it an put anti septic cream on, ok now just wonderd what was in it......

Lime,pure and simple. Too much contact with it and you could get what the construction industry term " concrete burn ". I've had it and it is'nt very nice. Always wear gloves.

You should really wear gloves or keep a bucket of water handy to immerse your hands when handling concrete or cement the lime in it can cause cement burns.

Always wear gloves and a dust mask to stop you breathing in the dust particles.
