Foot arch pain..Sort of..? What could it be?!

Question: To start off, the pain is located in my right foot. Click the below link. The area in red is the approximate area of pain.

This pain occurs randomly ranging from three times a week to once a month. In the area indicated, I get a SEVERE sharp pain. I cannot move my toes at all. Doing so results in the pain getting worse. These spasms last anywhere from two minutes to fifteen. The sharp pain only occurs in the right foot and in the specified area. I have not yet seen a doctor, I haven't found the need to.

This has been happening to me a lot lately. I remember having this pain occasionally when I was younger, but never so severe and horrible.

I have found no link to my daily activities and the foot pain. It happens when I have been laying down, walking around, etc. Basically random. Anybody have a clue what this could be or what could be causing this pain? Help appreciated.

First I'm not a dr, but my guess would be a pinched nerve. I've had a pinched nerve in a toe and when it would flare up it would be a sharp pain and my toe would go numb. A pinched nerve is from either injury or inflamation. Mine was caused by poor fitting shoes I believe.

I think you may have: stress fracture, tendinitis, ripped/pulled muscle, or ligament damage. It could also be a nervous problem as well, like a pinched nerve for example. You need to see your doctor and an orthopedic specialist about this regardless. For temporary relief, however, you might want to try ibuprofen. Since you don't quite know what the pain is yet, refrain from using heat or ice. If it's inflammation, heat will only inflame it more. If it's like a pulled muscle, ice will only make it tense up. Good luck with that.
