Broken leg not healing?!

Question: i shattered my tibia and cracked my ankle bone 4 months ago. No surgery was performed, as drs thought it was stable enough to just cast it, and i had other problems that needed fixing (car crash in which im lucky to be alive from)

Our last 2 visits to the outpatients showed that the bone in the ankle has not healed, and i may only have surgery as option left.

I have been on painkillers, it hurts to walk, and been taking natural remedies, calcium and fish oils for the swelling.

Is there anything i can do to help it heal? I do not want surgery, after 4 months in a cast ive had enough!

thanks for your advice.

Nonunion of a fracture is extremely difficult & the usual way is to plate or use bone grafts or both (surgery); sometimes electrical stimulation is tried to get the tissue to grow (by a physical therapist). At this point there is nothing you can do at home to get the bone cells to grow. Follow the recommendations of your orthopedist (you might want to see an ortho specialist even).

Im no expert on this, but I have got a very bad back and disc problems so done alot of research on bone health and cartillage etc. Just though perhaps you should try taking glucosamine sulphate too? Its really good for cartillage healing and regrowth. Hope you feel better soon.
