I have very painful foot cramps. What causes these and how do I get rid of them?!

Question: I'm 30 years old and have foot cramps in my right foot for the last 8 or so years. They just occur out of the blue, like when I'm shopping or driving or even sitting down. They are incredibly painful and I feel like I am going to pass out from the pain. Sometimes they last a couple of minutes, but lately they've been lasting up to 10 minutes.
Before I became pregnant 2 years ago, I was cramping every few days. I never had a foot cramp from when I became pregnant until now.
I've heard that they can be a result of your foot on cold surfaces, but I am rarely bare-footed when they occur and live in slip on shoes, so nothing restrictive on my foot. I've seen 3 doctors and none of them know the cause. Please help. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

I don't know how to spell it so i won't try! My dad has had it for a few years and he gets it from being on his feet all day. It helps in the evening to sit in front of the TV and put a rolling pin under your foot. Just sit rolling it back and forth. You can also ice them.

maybe your potassium is low.
Try eating more bananas or drinking more orange juice.

go to a doctor

see a doctor about it, you have gone too long with it- it could be poor circulation, if so you want to make sure your circulation to your brain and heart is not being compromised, that is why I would see the doctor- to make sure there is no problem

change your shoes.

Cramps in general are muscles seizing up because they don't get a lot of use. Cold can also contribute. Try stretching your feet every now and again to get the muscles stronger

I have the same problem. My doctor told me it was from wearing high heels and perhaps lack of potassium. He said that some people are just more prone to cramping than others and that I am one of the unlucky ones. However, I haven't been able to give up high heels yet. I try to eat bananas tho! Good luck. I hope you find a solution!

Ussually crams happen when your not drinking enough water. Id try to drink more water, and maybe stretch it once in a while, maybe even try more comfortable shoes.

you may be lacking a certain vitamin. example, then i get charlie horses (oober bad cramps) you lack potassium and you muscles spaz and it feels like there flipping. if that's going on, make sure that your keeping up on vitamins, if it does work, see a doctor.

I had the same thing when I was going through a growth spurt.

I think it's just your skin stretching a bit.

go to a foot doctor or get somebody to massage them

Are you drinking coffee? If yes quit drinking coffee and instead of that drink a lots of Green Tea, ginger tea or regular tea. Every day and several times. But try to don't drink them at evening.
If you were taking medicine you need to detox your body with tea or juice, that both are good.
