You really should call your dr. who did the surgery a call NOW! If it's not him/her then the dr. on call can tell you what to do. Six days from this surgery shouldn't leave you in this much pain. You could have something more serious like a complication that could be causing the pain for instance a blood clot in the abdominal area. Even patients who've had hysterectomies sometimes get them and end up back in the hospital because of complications. Gas can cause a lot of pain and even pain killers won't help it. What can help besides moving around is if you lay on your left side and keep one knee bent. Usually if you need to pass gas, the best side for you to be on is the left side. If this doesn't work, maybe you could try some Gas-X and if you are still in a lot of pain, call your dr. (the best time I figured was when he/she is not seeing patients-so call during lunch like when the answering service takes calls or after the office is closed). Although your mom feels great now, when I had my laparoscopy at age 19 (wish it was sooner but my mom just said I had growing pains and didn't take me seriously), I was sore when standing up or sitting down for 2-3 days. My finace actually helped me while getting up from a chair and sitting down. Six days from surgery you should pretty much be pain free. Since it has been six days now, I'd put a call into your dr's office to see what he/she says. You shouldn't still be having pain this late. If you do, it could be a complication like a blood clot or something else that needs attention. Blood clots can cause bad pain. Please call your dr's office even after hours (he's probably still up if it's EDT where you are or earlier). If he isn't the one to call you back then another dr. will call you back. If you don't get a call back within a half an hour then call the answering service back and tell them you called a half an hour ago and still haven't heard from the dr. They will page the dr. again and you should hear from him/her after that. Do what the dr. says and don't say "I think it's gas as then he will think the same and may prescribe a suppository to you to help relieve symptoms or tell you to take Gas-X. If you've had the pain since the surgery and haven't felt better make sure you tell the dr. that as there could be something else going on. Hope this helps. Oh I hope your dr. told you about not waiting to long to have a baby. Mine never told me and when I saw a new obgyn, one of the first things he said was that I shouldn't wait more than two years to get pregnantl I was already married for eight months when I saw my new awesome dr. who I still see today. I've been his patient now for about 15 years. I hope this helps some and that you get relief from your pain.

i know how painful the gas is from laproscopic surgery, but, to make it better you have to move around...its the only way the gas is going to diffuse, otherwise its going to sit in one spot and cause a lot of pain.

Each person reacts differently from the gas infusion so just move around and know that it will be a bit better each day...have you called the doctor to tell them that you are still so uncomfortable? Perhaps you need to be checked by them.
